Place Category: Paddle Spots
Good spot if you’re coming in from a downwinder from the east, otherwise don’t bother. It’s primitive and the launch spot is kind of gross. WEAR WATER SHOES! But if you’re trying to do a downwinder to/from Webster, it’s better to park and land here than to drive around the bay to Irondequoit Bay Marine Park because the swing bridge is open.
Park at Sandbar Park on Lake Rd, and launch/land either beside Bay Side Pub or through the bullrushes to the east. Either way, you’re launching on the Bay, and you’ll have to paddle through the channel to the lake. If you’re going out this way, you’ll probably want to clear your rudder of weeds before you start downwinding.
There are some pubs and stuff along the road, but I’ve never tried them because they’re full of power boaters.
Come from the East on Lake Rd. Look for a parking lot that looks like a loop of gravel and some picnic tables.
