The wave deflector is a must have for any serious downwind paddler.   When the bow goes under, this deflector will ensure that you don’t end up with a lap full of water, rather it will spray off to the sides.  This will keep you drier and make it easier to keep up your speed when paddling downwind.   It’s never fun catching waves with a cockpit full of water.

You will want to experiment with positioning to get the perfect fit.   These go on with Pipe Wrap Tape, Duct Tape, or Gorilla Tape,  laid along the leading edge of the deflector and onto the top of the bow.
